Why Painkillers Addiction can be More Dangerous than Heroin and Cocaine Addiction?

It is a bit curious to know that many people are leaning toward become addicted to painkiller rather than cocaine and heroin. Painkillers are slowly inducing many people into a state of helplessness as they are now putting their life on the steady consumption of painkillers.
There are some reasons why painkiller can be a lot more dangerous than heroin and cocaine.
  1. Painkillers are easily acquired in drugstores, a patient can easily visit more than one GP and will get a steady supply of painkillers, which can be used for years.
  2. Painkillers are currently legal drugs and commonly used by people to lessen pains. Without strong advocacy and legal actions, the drug may not be deemed as harmful substances or narcotics by officials, which in return will make it easy for everyone to get it.
  3. Despite its addiction affects, the drug is very important for many people as it will help them to have a manageable life with less pain due to their diseases or injuries.
  4. Painkillers are cheap and affordable compared to heroine and cocaine which are sold at premium price.

Just like other addiction, painkiller can harm one's life, they may suffer damages in their social life and lower productivity. Luckily there are many rehabs that are built to cure the addiction. Governments have tried to prevent people to become addicted to this drug, however the are currently continue to fail as painkillers are harder to restrict than typical narcotics. In most cases rehabs is the best way to cure sufferers as, without controlled environments and intensive treatment, it is very easy for them to relapse and slid back to their addiction state. Even so, the best way is not to cure it but to prevent it, people must be educated about the dangers of painkiller addiction.
